The palm baskets are woven by hand by the palm branches that are cut of the palms after the harvest. The baskets are made in the Al Gahra Oasis, a very small oasis in the middle of the Sahara desert - only 500 people live there.
The baskets are traditionally used to collect the harvest of olives and dates.
